About this project
The aim of this PhD project is to establish an organoid biobank based on adult stem cells of human kidney tubular epithelial tissue (tubuloids). Tubuloids will be cultured from cystinosis patients as well as from patients with other inherited tubulopathies by collecting fresh urine and kidney tissue samples. These tubuloids will be phenotypically characterized and functional assays to model diseases will be established. Ultimately, the tubuloids will be used to identify drug targets and will be applied in drug development pipelines.
